Asian, Including Chinese and Indian
Last updated - November 15, 2000

Vegas hotel restaurants have focused on Chinese and Japanese cuisine, much to the regret of anyone having a craving for Thai or Indian. There are a couple of sushi places under consideration for 21, and we’re also planning a trip to Nobu over at the Hard Rock. Shalimar’s Indian Cuisine at 3900 Paradise also holds promise for future dining rating.

I’m not overwhelmed by Wolfgang Puck’s restaurants – too much pizza fetish, not enough red meat -- but Chinois goes into a Asian/Chinese/Japan/French fusion zone which is head & shoulders better and different than the stock fare he offers up in other places around town. It’s also got an excellent sushi bar.

Gandhi’s falls a little short in the elegance category. It’s off the strip in a shopping mall that’s seen better days, but it’s one of a few places in town where you can find nice spicy tasty Indian cuisine. I’ve been there on a couple of occasions and have never been disappointed. There’s supposed to be a buffet on weekdays, but I am not in favor of buffets.

Dragon Noodle Company – Monte Carlo

Dragon Noodle Company has a homey, relaxed feel to it, likely something to do with the feng shui mirror placement if you are into that sort of Zen hooey. Good Chinese food accompanied by an exotic tea selection makes the place special and worth the trek over from wherever you might be on the strip.
